Accra, Ghana, 28 July 2025 \u2013<\/em> Today, the African Association of Accountants General (AAAG) unveiled the theme for its third Annual Conference, which will take place in Ghana in November 2025. The Conference, jointly organised with the Office of the Controller and Accountant General (CAG), Republic of Ghana, will be held under the theme: \u201cAfrica of Tomorrow: Positioning Public Finance Management (PFM) for Economic Prosperity\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This theme highlights the need to reform PFM systems to respond to current and future challenges by leveraging innovation, artificial intelligence, digitalisation, climate-responsive budgeting, and sound fiscal governance. By embracing these reforms, African governments can build resilience, boost public trust, and unlock the continent\u2019s vast economic potential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis theme embraces our call to action for all governments across Africa: as we work towards greater resilience and inclusive growth, we must strengthen public finance management systems. Adopting agile, digital, citizen-centred, and climate-responsive systems is critical to achieving Africa\u2019s development ambitions,\u201d said Fredrick Riaga, AAAG Chief Executive Officer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Annual Conference, the largest gathering of public sector finance professionals in Africa, will take place at the Accra International Conference Centre from November 24 to November 28, 2025. An exhibition will run alongside the conference, showcasing innovations in financial technology, AI, public service delivery, digital solutions for governments and many more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 2025 AAAG Annual Conference promises engaging plenaries, in-depth technical sessions, and powerful networking opportunities for those driving PFM reforms in Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This flagship event will bring together over 2,000 public finance experts and professionals, senior government officials, development partners, innovators, thought leaders and venture capitalists from across the continent and beyond to discuss how robust PFM Systems can accelerate Africa\u2019s sustainable development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mrs Malehlohonolo Mahase CA(L), AAAG Chairperson, said: \u201cThis Conference is more than a gathering of public finance professionals; it is a movement to drive Africa towards transparency, enhanced accountability, improved service delivery, and a more efficient use of resources. By rethinking how we manage public resources, we can build an Africa that is prosperous, inclusive, and ready for current and future challenges.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Every year, AAAG hosts strategic Annual Conferences in collaboration with Offices of the Accountant General of Member Countries. The AAAG Annual Conference provides a platform for public sector accountants, policymakers, thought leaders, government representatives, development partners, and international stakeholders to converge and discuss pivotal topics related to Public Financial Management (PFM), governance, and sustainable growth in Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 2025 AAAG Annual Conference is the third Conference organised by the African Association of Accountants General following two successful similar gatherings in Arusha, Tanzania (December 2024) and Maseru, Lesotho (February 2024).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
